skank’n sounds for bass-heads and dubbers…

Dub Rascals at Envirofiesta 08

July 12th, 2008 by 'little rascal'

The 2008 Envirofiesta sees the Dub Rascals carry on where they left off at the Kuranda Roots Festival, with the ‘little rascal’ and Symonard mixing up a dubby storm of mostly dubstep music on the DJ decks and percussion. They will be joined in collaboration for his first ever Dub Rascals performance by internationally renowned drummer/percussionist, Ben Hakalitz on the electronic skins and traditional percussive things.
Ben Hakalitz
Ben is from Bouganville, PNG (currently living in Cairns) and is one of PNG’s most accomplished musicians. He is currently the drummer for Australian Indigenous band Yothu Yindi. Ben has a great knowledge of traditional music from different areas of PNG, especially log drum rhythms of Manus and Sepik. He has travelled the world for the past 7 years as a professional freelance musician. In this time he has worked with artists such as Sanguma, Tambaran Culture, Telek, Not Drowning Waving, Yothu Yindi, Edou, Toni Nation and more.
These guys will be taking dub where no dub has gone before at Envirofiesta 2008, don’t miss out!.

Envirofiesta is a major part of CAFNECs yearly fundraising program and helps support our work towards a sustainable future for Queensland’s Far North.

Each year has a different theme. The theme this year is “Visioning the Future”. The future is yours, what do you want the future to be? check it out
