tracks:
A Dubstep Reason - this track is mostly built from samples from a recent Computer Music Magazine issue dedicated to the new Reason 4 music making software, although i built it in Reason 3. This software is awesome and im learning and loving it more every time i use it…I expect to hear these samples used in other great dubstep songs soon!!
TV Beats - this track was started late last year and features my friend Jamie playing his Berimbau (traditional Brazilian instrument used in Capoeira). There is another version of this track with vocals from local Murri MCs, Fox and CBreeze called Creep Up To You.
Steppa - this track was also started around the same time as TV Beats. I was trying to get that Dancehall , steppa kinda beat…It features a speech by Dr. Steven Greer, founder of the Disclosure Project. The Disclosure Project is a nonprofit research project working to fully disclose the facts about UFOs, extraterrestrial intelligence, and classified advanced energy and propulsion systems. We have over 400 government, military, and intelligence community witnesses testifying to their direct, personal, first hand experience with UFOs, ETs, ET technology, and the cover-up that keeps this information secret. www.disclosureproject.com
Dubber BBB_BT - this track uses a layered synth bassline built in Reason 3 on three of its Subtracktor synths rather than my usual recorded ‘rascal’ bassline. I used this track to learn how to get that ‘wub wub’ dubstep bass sound, following a tutorial i found online. This track also has a speech taken from the Disclosure Project.
Gear Used: Mega Peavy Max700 Bass Amp , Hartke Bass Attack pedal, Electro Harmonix Bass Micro-Synthesizer pedal, Roland TD-6V Electronic drumkit, Roland SP-404 sampler, Alesis Firwire mixer/recorder, Cubase LE, Reason 3 (all its bells and whistles), Reaper, various plugins, izotope Ozone 2,
Monitors: JBL 6208 Bi-amplified studio monitors, Bose AcousticMax Cube System, Akai SW-157s, Sony APM 1170s .

The Far North’s premier roots festival returns this year with another diverse National line up and International guests.
Kuranda Roots, held at the stunning Kuranda Amphitheatre, features a strong line up of local, interstate and NZ acts and yet stays true to its reputation as an affordable community and family event.
The festival is the brainchild of ex-Kuranda local Morgyn Quinn, owner of Brisbane music label Rudekat Records and Cairns arts/music producers The House Of Falcon. In turn, a large local crew from the FNQ arts and music community support the event.
In the words of the Morgyn, “Kuranda Roots is about bringing together the diverse forms of Roots Music including Soul, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, World and Blues and creating a world class bill of cutting edge entertainment. We are also committed to developing the skills and abilities of local artists.”
Kuranda has a long and colourful history of roots music, and the amphitheatre is one of the most critical and beautiful outdoor live music venues in the country. Last years festival left punters hungry for more, and the 2008 program promises to deliver some great musical surprises.
The program features many local indigenous artists and acts as a showcase event for the great diversity of talent across the Far North.
Feature acts include Olmecha Supreme (NZ), The Nomad (NZ), Fyah Walk (Byron), Dubmarine (Bris), Zennith (Kuranda), Mistalaneous (Bris), Mystic beats (Byron), Rudekat Soundsystem (Bris and many more.
Kuranda Roots is an all ages licensed event. Tickets go on sale May 4th from Ticketlink, www.ticketlink.com.au 07-4031-9555 and funky Cairns shops Tastey, Shiva Moon and Shi Sha.
Check www.kurandaroots.com for more information.

Dear friends,
Something very troubling is happening right now in Canberra, as our pollies put the final touches on next week’s Budget. It only became clear to us while delivering your People’s Budget Submission - the halls of Parliament are crawling with lobbyists from the powerful and well-resourced polluting industries, using their industrial muscle to aggressively argue against climate change action.
We urgently need an active people’s movement to counter the largest and best-funded lobby in Australia. Next Thursday, the Government will meet with environment groups to discuss climate change solutions. We want tens of thousands of signatures to bring to the table, calling for emissions to begin declining by 2010, and be cut in half by 2020. Nothing less will do.
Will your signature be one of those countering the polluters’ push for short-term profit?
www.getup.org.au/campaign/ClimateActionNow/340
All the polluting industries have combined their resources to trump the will of the people: coal, aluminum, cement, electricity generators, mining, and many more. But our politicians work for us - they need to set targets and pass laws that reduce emissions, not reward polluters.
We are much closer to a crisis tipping point than previously thought. It’s now possible that there will be no Arctic summer ice by 2013, 90 years earlier than IPCC predictions. With existing projections being viewed as the minimum changes we can expect, Australia must adopt a science-based emissions reduction target - and nurture a green economy with green jobs to get us there.
Our economic prosperity and our environment depends on it, and that depends on our politicians being willing and able to resist the powerful self-interests of the polluter lobby. Help swing the debate back in favour of the people, by signing this urgent petition today, before next week’s meeting:
www.getup.org.au/campaign/ClimateActionNow/340
The polluter lobby must not set the terms of the debate around climate solutions. We know that the costs of inaction are catastrophic and will affect every aspect of our economy and our lives. Kevin Rudd is making decisions this year that could help avoid that - but only if you demand it. He needs you to let him know you expect corporate greed to not trump climate need.
Thanks for being a part of the solution,
The GetUp team

The Orion Project is a non-profit foundation created to transform the current energy, environmental and social crisis into a world of sustainability and Enlightened Abundance.
Technological progress in the areas of advanced physics and electromagnetic systems, if appropriately supported, will enable humanity to live on the Earth with a minimal footprint with genuine long-term sustainability.
For over 100 years, these advanced concepts in energy generation have either been ignored or actively suppressed due to the power of fossil-fuel based economic and industrial interests.
Get involved, show your support, donate and/or do some of your own research at: http://www.theorionproject.org
