DUB IN THA PUB 16
Little Rascal Records serves up a treat for dubbers and music fans this Xmas. Dub In Tha Pub 16 features local DJ talent spinning an assortment of dub/reggae plus homegrown original reggae band Dabas bringing the live sound.
The Saturday Night before Christmas is sure to be dubbed out the back of the Cape York Hotel. Emerging reggae band, Dabas will be making their debut appearance at Dub In Tha Pub. Dabas is the creation of Torres Strait Islander musician and songwriter Waipila Tikak Sabadi Kerry in collaboration with local youth organisation YETI’s Music Program. Youth workers from both Youthlink and YETI play, participate in and promote the bands development. Soccer writes soulful reggae music and has a mighty presence, his vocals are rich and warm and his musicianship comes naturally. His songs reflect moments in life, love, family and culture.
Dabas will play 2 sets broken up with guest DJ, Kanaka playing in between. Kanaka started deejaying in 1999 at one off events and parties around Darwin including a 6 year residency with Darwin’s number one club ‘Kongo’. Now relocated to Cairns, Kanaka is involved with ReggaeTown Festival and various gigs around the Cairns area.
Front and tail of the night will be taken care of by Dub In Tha Pub stalwarts and absolute dub consouirs, Symonard and Lazarus - always down with a fat dub session, and a fat dub session it is sure to be.
So if you needing a pre Xmas warm up party and don’t mind a bit of dub/reggae then head on down to Dub In Tha Pub 16.
