Walk Against Warming brings together people in cities and towns right across the country for Australia’s largest community day of awareness raising on climate change. Since its inception in 2005, Walk Against Warming has inspired and empowered close to 100 000 ordinary Australians to show their concern over climate change in over 30 locations across the nation.
Cairns was one of the first regional centres to host the event, with over 150 people attending the first year, and between 300 -400 people attending in 2006. This year we aim to have over 1000 people come together for a community walk through the centre of Cairns to show our concern about climate change impacts for our community and to call on our elected leaders to take stronger action to address this critical issue.
FNQ as a region is exposed to climate change on multiple fronts: extreme weather (cyclones, storm surge, flooding); coastal erosion and hillslope erosion and stability; health and diseases; damage to our reefs, upland rainforests and coastal environments; accessibility to remote areas; impacts on infrastructure; and consequent impacts on the economy, lifestyle and liveability of the region.
Walk Against Warming is a family friendly event which provides our community with the opportunity to come together and express their concern over climate change in a fun, positive and inclusive manner.
This years event will start from City walk through town ending up on the parkland next to the Lagoon. The event is being held two weeks before the Federal election to ensure political leaders of all persuasions are well aware of the community concern on this issue right across Australia.

Just found a great product for music makers/performers.

The CD Seller is a professional and affordable CD display and sales tool with a proven track record of dramatically increasing CD sales for musicians and bands who market their CDs at live performances. Designed, refined and road tested by a professional working musician, The CD Seller is rugged, attractive and mounts to any standard microphone stand. A threaded, metal fitting secures The CD Seller to the mic stand and a padlocked cashbox lets your fans purchase CDs upon impulse - without interrupting your show, without finding and waiting to meet somebody after the show and before the impulse to buy is interrupted or fades. The product display holds up to 12 CDs in standard jewel cases and the 9 x 5 inch sign holder, together with your custom, eye-catching interchangeable advertising banners, will attract attention and increase the visibility of your product even more. Powerfully effective, professionally attractive and affordably priced, The CD Seller is simply the finest CD display and sales tool available.
Just mount The CD Seller to a mic stand, add your CDs and custom advertising and position The CD Seller to achieve maximum visibility and accessability. The CD Seller will do the rest! Your CDs will be prominently displayed and available for sale before, during and after every show.
Stop losing profitable CD sales because your CDs weren’t displayed where your fans would notice them, because you can’t stop to sell a CD while you perform, because you’re too busy before or after a show, because you can’t afford a person to man a merchandise table or because your customer became distracted and/or lost interest before they were able to buy. With the added visibility and availability of your product, The CD Seller is likely to pay for itself on the very first gig! You Will sell more CDs and make more money at every show you play with The CD Seller! - Guaranteed!
More than one CD title to sell? Dividers with a tab at the top are available for artists with more than one CD to sell. Simply put a divider between each of the different titles in the CD holder. Advertise the titles on the tabs and on your banner in the sign holder! The CD Seller holds a total of 12 CDs; that’s 6 copies of 2 titles, 4 copies of 3 titles or any combination you choose!
