StopGlobalWarming.org

Please join the Stop Global Warming Virtual March.

Global warming isn’t opinion. It’s a scientific reality. And the science tells us that human activity has made enormous impacts to our planet that affect our well-being and even our survival as a species.

The world’s leading science journals report that glaciers are melting ten times faster than previously thought, that atmospheric greenhouse gases have reached levels not seen for millions of years, and that species are vanishing as a result of climate change. They also report of extreme weather events, long-term droughts, and rising sea levels.

Fortunately, the science also tells us how we can begin to make significant repairs to try and reverse those impacts, but only through immediate action.

That’s why we urge you to join us. By spreading the word, our collective power will force governments, corporations, and politicians everywhere to freeze and reduce carbons emissions now. We are all contributors to global warming and we all need to be part of the solution.

Add your voice to the over 825,000 already marching. Join now.

Another Great Label

July 25th, 2007 by 'little rascal'

SCORPION RECORDS
Check these folks out if your keen on your punk and hardcore sounds. They have a bunch of great releases and a fantastic attitude. Another myspace friend…

Scorpion Records was started in 1999 after dealing with a growing number of people in the music industry as well as show promoters. It became obvious, bands (unfortunately) need label backing to succeed. Although, sometimes the backing goes as quickly as it came if the bands don’t produce enough money for the label. We decided to try and create something unique. A label that acts like a family, with bands that help support each other to achieve their goals. A label that gives the artist freedom to create what they believe in while giving them the backing of a label that so many industry people insist you need. We don’t limit ourselves to any one style band nor do we ever plan to. In an industry that is too often “what can you do for me” we try and take the stand, “how can we help each other”.

Judgement Yard

July 25th, 2007 by 'little rascal'

Got this one thanks to new myspace freind Congo Judah

Judgement Yard was established as a community centre in August Town by Sizzla Kalonji. As the owner and founder of the Yard, he is responsible for many youths here in the community of August Town, as well as youths who come from other areas to seek assistance and guidance in life as well as music.

Judgement Yard is like a home to many Rastafari youth, of which the majority wear turbans and trod the earth as battlefield warriors in Selassie Army in that I and I “burn” corruption and dirty livity. Many of these same youths who are members of Judgement Yard fraternity are musicians or have some direct affiliation with the music through production works, artiste works, etc. Some of these talents are featured on this website, but many more will follow because Judgement Yard is ever progressive and never idle. As Sizzla Kalonji is a versatile pioneer within Reggae music, so are all of the battlefield warriors who compromise the body of the Judgement Yard organism, while Sizzla represents the head.

Internet Radio

July 21st, 2007 by 'little rascal'

OK Folks - some new internet radio recommendations!

BIGUP RADIO
If a farmer is harvesting wheat they must separate the wheat from the chaff. The wheat is the good part, like good reggae music. The chaff is not edible, like reggae that is no good. BigupRadio separates the wheat from the chaff. BigupRadio only plays the best, most slamming DANCEHALL and steady rockin ROOTS reggae music.

BigupRadio is one of our favourates and has so much great music to explore!

ENVIROFIESTA
Envirofiesta is a major part of CAFNECs yearly fundraising program and helps support our work towards a sustainable future for Queensland’s Far North

MEDIA RELEASE

Envirofiesta – Celebrating Sustainability
29 June 2007

Attention: Environment and Entertainment Writers
Over 100 emerging local, musicians, songwriters, poets, dancers, circus performers,
visual artists, fashion designers and models will work together with the Cairns and
Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) to celebrate living sustainability.
Envirofiesta, is back again in 2007!

Held this year on Saturday 4th August in the gorgeous shady park behind offices of CAFNEC, on the corner of Little st and Greenslopes st, Edge Hill. The day will be filled with entertainment and inspiration for all ages with 3 music stages, art exhibitions, cottage markets, inspirational films and displays, roving characters, workshops, speakers, and a whole area devoted to the little people, filled with circus, craft and more to ensure a fun day out.

Envirofiesta is a favourite event in the Cairns year bringing many sections of this
multi cultural community together to champion the cause of being aware of our
environment.
Dozens of locals volunteer their time many skills to make Envirofiesta the great day it is. Through sharing their creativity or by taking time to help in the multitude of tasks required to produce a festival this size, these volunteers produce an event valued by an ever growing community of the environmentally concious.

Envirofiesta is also seeking businesses that wish to become involved in this event and show their wares to the growing market of green-minded consumers. There are many opportunities for local businesses to become involved in Envirofiesta including stalls sponsorship, or even take part in our eco-business expo.

Many of us out there are wondering how we can be part of the solution to our
environmental problems and Envirofiesta provides a great place to start.
Envirofiesta will provide you with access to information that will help you make your own informed decisions and inspire you with the experience of being immersed in a world of creativity that is celebrating a mutual love for the natural environment.

For information on how to get involved in this year’s event please contact the
