Been a BIG fan of these musical activists since the Unsound System days. Have seen them play: much energy, much passion and truth. >>> ‘rascal recommended’

Playing in Perth at Rosemount Hotel 04.08.2017

Melbourne hip hop activists, truth speakers and riot rockers, COMBAT WOMBAT return to Perth for the first time in ten years on the back of their recently released Just Across The Border LP via https://combatwombat.bandcamp.com/album/just-across-the-border

Support from MathasDiger Rokwell and Soma

Five years in the making, Just Across The Border is a hip hop album with a revolutionary attitude.

Paying equal homage to the golden era of hip hop and sound system dub reggae, it was recorded and produced in Monkey Marc’s solar-powered studio in Melbourne, Australia.

From bass-heavy speaker-blasting hip hop to cinematic musical epilogues and raw sonic beauty, Just Across The Border is Combat Wombat’s first album in over a decade.

This is truth-exposing, riot-inspiring music to tear down borders and break down the walls of racism and injustice we live under

Presented by The Community Records and YARDSTOCK

[DUB005] Hermit Dubz Ft. Knati P – Fyah Fi Babylon

Posted on 31st July 2016 by Brett Caporn (LRRecords) in dub/wise,labels,music,release promo - Tags: , , ,

…as always; proper and good dub on dubophonic netlabel…’rascal recommended’

Cat. Nr.: [DUB005]
Artist: Hermit Dubz ft. Knati P
Title: Fyah Fi Babylon
Genre: Roots, Reggae, Dancehall, Dub
Country: Cyprus, Jamaica
Release date: 23/07/2016

Hermit Dubz: The elusive dub hermit, often unseen, toiling away in his hermit cave, meditating on low frequency vibrations. This secretive character grew up travelling the world. From an early age, the love of reggae and dub was instilled in him, and would remain his deepest love. Moving to England in the 90s as a teenager, he discovered the newly awakening electronic dance music scene and was soon DJing and creating his own sonic experiments. Over the years, the reclusive Hermit Dubz has been accumulating a horde of dub influenced sonic artefacts, and more recently building the Hermit Cave studios in Birmingham, Uk. After a long period of experimentation, isolation, meditation and contemplation, Hermit Dubz has re-emerged, ready to unleash his sonic relics.

Knati P:  Musician, painter (the artwork for this release is a painting by Knati), and entertaining performer with a unique vocal style. He studied at the Jamaica School of Art, moved to Brixton, London, in the late 1980s and regularly took part in the Notting Hill festival. In the year 2000 he was voted MC of the year. He has an impressive recording/performing record (Pineapple Tribe, Jah Observer, R.D.K, Manasseh, Equalizer, Skanga International Muzik etc.) and is a much respected lyricist, vocalist and MC.

The two artists met in Surrey, UK, at a dance where Knati was performing with his local sound system, Da Vinci. They have been friends and musical collaborators ever since, and the result is some great riddims, which remained hidden in the Hermit’s cave for quite some time. We managed to get hold of some those tracks and we present them to you today in the form of an EP. “Fyah fi Babylon” consists of 3 vocal tracks and 3 blazing dubs. We hope that the bass heavy sound of Hermit Dubz and the original Jamaican voice of Knati P will be the perfect combination for your upliftment.

…time to share some more bangers >>>

NEW YORK TRANSIT AUTHORITY - Brooklyn Underground (Front Cover)
LOB 010D
4 March, 2015

Review:
Velvet tech from one of the most respected and saluted Lobster Boys on the block, NYTA lets rip with four shades of gully grey… “Brooklyn Underground” is a body popping homage with the formative electro sounds while “Dinner & Corsica” takes us right back to the acid-house warehouse-melting source. Dig deeper for a hip-teasing percussive house number “Make It Happen” and deeper again for the stunning two-step soul smoulderer “Watching” that sits somewhere between Burial and MJ Cole. Breath-taking.

BOK BOK - Southside (remixes) (Front Cover)

Review:
After the success of the original Southside EP last year, Bok Bok has called upon his mates to rework some of the lead cuts with results that stretch across the board. Sir Spyro has some filthy bass at the forefront of his playful reworking of “Silo Pass”, while the horns get teased in the appropriate places to great effect. Vjuan Allure instead focuses on dry beats working around a UK Funky template, with only scattered effects left to fill in the gaps. Bok Bok’s own remix of “Charisma Theme” piles the tension on high with dread strings and a snappy dispersal of percussion. L-Vis 1990 gets jacking with his take on “Reminder”, leaving it to Helix to delve into a funky techno rut to conquer “Look”

oh shizza!!! check out these! >>

SERUM - Tokyo (Front Cover)
LDDR 041
13 March, 2015
Review:
Name a label who hasn’t succeumbed to Serum’s charms. You can’t, can you? Infecting the world with a special blend of charged-up basslines and hardline percussion, he manages to hit the perfect mid-way point between old fashioned skanking and on-point production values. Careful not to overcook the method, he leaves enough rough with the smooth to give off that uniquely raw dancefloor-ready sound. Each track on this EP jabs and ducks ready for a fight but its “Death Wish” that really steals the show with its dark ‘n’ filthy bass and creeped-out B-movie atmos. Get ready to get freaky

MUNGOS HI FI - Serious Time Remixes Volume 2 (Front Cover)
SCOBNET 002
13 March, 2015
Review:
Glasgow crew Mungos get the all-direction remix treatment for the second version compendium of the year. All flavours of dancehall and soundsystem material covered as the likes of FleCK, Chopstick, Run Tingz Cru and the mighty Vadim stick their sonic oar in and get busy. Highlights include the crystalline skank shimmers of Aquarius’s take on “Jah Say Love”, the militant snare rolls and punching kicks of Vadim’s take on “Thousand Style”. Those thirsty for jungle juice should jump on Chopstick’s rattling ragga slammer “Nice It Up” and Run Tingz Cru’s cheeky, burping bass jump up jam. Get serious.

WAR MACHINE - Limitless (Front Cover)
KILLAZLP 002
16 March, 2015
Review:
Billed as a new breed of genre-bending producer, War Machine has taken to deep, intricate production like it was built into his DNA. Picked up recently by Med School for his very different stylistic approach and now being given the platform to release his full length LP on Serial Killaz, he’s breaking new ground in a scene that’s rapidly outgrowing its old expectations. Exciting, fresh and above all deadly, it’s a culmination of a lifetime of hard work, gathered influences and a calm consideration of how to perfectly execute a good bassline. Check last track “Dem Bars” for some on point vocals too from new voice Talabun. Time to get excited about drum and bass again.

High Maintenance : https://soundcloud.com/highmaintenancednb
2011 was a breakthrough year for High Maintenance. As well as releasing his debut single on Audioporn Records, ‘With You /Nowhere’. High Maintenance’s reputation as a DJ also came to the forefront with blazing sets on stage at Beatpatrol, D&BTV, Panda Drum & Bass YouTube, and Annie Nightingale’s BBC Radio 1 Show.

Forbidding the momentum to slow, High Maintenance made his mark on 2012 with the release of his ‘Never Enough’ EP on AudioPorn Records. The official music video for the titular track, ‘Never Enough’ was uploaded to UKF Drum & Bass and went on to receive hundreds of thousands of views.

High Maintenance isn’t one to be confined by genre and firmly cemented his status as a talented producer at the top of his game yet again in 2013 with the release of his highly anticipated 5 track ‘Watching Me EP’. Combining soulful liquid sensibilities with dance-floor-damaging energy, this EP proved yet again High Maintenance’s effortless ability to take on any tempo from drum and bass to drumstep and dubstep. The titular track was a collaboration between High Maintenance and fellow AudioPorn Records alumni, Mediks. ‘Watching Me Ft. Georgina Upton’ was favourited by BBC Radio 1 DJs and playlisted by BBC 1Xtra.

Keep your eyes peeled for this talented producer as he continues to rise to the top of the electronic music scene in 2014!

Killafoe : https://soundcloud.com/killafoe
For Perth inherited Evan Scott- the skateboarder behind the profile of Killafoe- music has pumped its concentrate through his bloodstream since the early days. Brewing a musical monster from his early punk and funk days, it’s his present profile that has conjured up the rudest sounding trap, dubstep and drum and bass hues to hit your speakers.
Taking over Australia with his heavy sounds, the deadly enemy thud reaches avid bass enthusiasts far and wide with tunes out on Play Me 2, Hollow Point, Hypnosis and JD4D Records. In 2011 the Beatport dubstep charts witnessed the EP ‘Street Credit’ from Evan bruise the ladder bringing his artistry to the forefront. The recent track ‘Alone’ with Kira Annelies out on JD4D Records is set to blow an underground explosion with heavy remixes from Fytch, Phrenik, 1UP, J.Nitrous- a regular collaborator on Killafoe studio antics.

On the remix tip, Evan has seized the studio with officials for SPL & Babylon System for ‘Gangster’ out on Hollow Point Records, while the bass line has rumbled on the official duty for ‘Overtime’ for Packer & Rhodes featuring Thavy on Interphase Recordings. Its no surprise 2012 saw Killafoe take the stage for the Perth Dance Music Awards sweeping up the deserved award for Best Producer.

Closing the studio door and stomping inside the DJ booth, he has taken to the likes of Stereosonic, Creamfields, Parklife and some of Perth’s biggest Inhibit Entertainment events to hit the west coast. Pulverizing a wicked spot on the Ministry of Sound – Sound of Dubstep tour with Borgore, lifted the Killafoe tune and took it to the right places. On the bass summit, the bass lining genius has shared the speakers with some of the industry’s most intense tune droppers from Datsik to Bro Safari, to Excision, Nero and delta Heavy.

With a roaring energy be it in the studio or in front of dripping crowd, Killafoe is sending tremors from miles away.
