“The A side, Fire Key, features Ras Dago and is everything you’d expect from Alpha Steppa. Eastern influences, killer percussion, dread vibes and enough sub to put even the best soundsystem to the test. The B side, Shaka Satori, is an altogether different beast. It opens with an almost haunting stringed instrument, before the kick drops and prepares you for the impending undulating bass line. As Mixmag have said, Alpha Steppa’s music truly does “put the dub in dubstep”. And if you’ve not come across his music before, Alpha’s Trigram release will definitely make you sit up and take note!” FKOF

[DPH012] Sunjaman – Outta Here (EP)

Title: Outta Here (EP)
Cat: [DPH012]
Genre: Dubwise / Stepper / Rootstep / Jungle
Country: Greece
Release date: 09-03-2014
CC Licenses-by-nc-nd/3.0

Sunjaman is an upcoming producer from Athens, Greece. Being a musician & bass player himself, he has always been exploring the sound of the bass, trying to travel into new territories on his effort to establish his own sound. On the process of exploring the bass territory, he had joined many bands and created numerous side-projects, from punk to hiphop. Nevertheless, dub has always been his main goal.

Inspired by the originality of roots dub and influenced by the modern dub steppa scene, he began to produce and public his tracks online. He made his debut release in 2013 and continued with many collaborations and releases. This is the first time he collaborates with Dubophonic. The style of Sunjaman’s can’t be described by only one musical genre. It combines many elements of bass music, such as dubstep, jungle, steppa, roots, dubwise. This is eminent in this 7-track EP, consisting of three original tracks and four alternative cuts.

Nuff respect to Northical from the Greek band/soundsystem Kako Synapantima for vocalising “Heavyweight Sound”, as well as Manwel T from Dubkey Records for his version of “Outta Here”.  Big shout out also to Jungle Raiders for a very energetic jungle cut of “Witness the day”. The cover art is credited to Katerina Arvaniti.

[DPH012] Sunjaman: Outta Here
TRACKS: 01 Heavyweight Sound (ft. Northical) // 02 Outta Here // 03 Witness the Day // 04 Heavyweight Sound (Sunjaman Re-Dub) // 05 Outta Here (Manwel T Remix) // 06 Witness The Day (Jungle Raiders Remix) // 07 Witness The Day (Re-Edit)

catalog #: LRRD120113EP

track listing:

No War Steppa

Progressing to the Future

Where we’ve come from (where are we going?)

Kava Dub

description:

Spiral Soundsystem third EP release on his own label Little Rascal Records brings forward thinking dubwise electronic music productions. Each track showcases a special message for all listeners to ponder and be engaged in.

Track one, No War Steppa presents an excerpt from the speech given by Dr Steven Greer of the Disclosure Project (www.disclosureproject.com). It is a warning for humanity to not bring weapons to space or in any present and future cosmic endeavours by humans from Earth.

Track two is a remix version of an older unreleased spiral soundsystem track, TV Beats. The remix also uses samples from an even older track taken from debut LP ‘Welcome To The Spiral Soundsystem’, 2002. The track prompts the listener to be ‘progressive to the future’ with an open mind.

Track three samples permaculture pioneer, Bill Mollisson from the CD, Funding the Revolution recorded in Perth, WA in 1985 by Jeff Nugent. Bill is talking about Information Technology, spades and economic strategies for change and the urgent need to act. Sit back and listen, but don’t sit for long, You are needed in the revolution! For more Bill Mollisson audio and permaculture info, go to: www.permacultureplants.net

Track four is a previously unreleased track made with LOVE and a touch of the intoxicating and muddy drink Kava. Produced in Cairns, Far North Queensland. “The message is in the music”.

LRRecords can also make quality, exclusive, custom and personalised cassette tapes of the EP for a special price. Please contact me personally for hard-copy EP on cassette.

ABOUT “CLASH OF THE TITANS”
The concept for this new release materialised in the summer of 2010: on a tropically hot (hot as hades) summer evening in Toronto, Dubmatix and Karsten Frehe (Irie Ites Music) came up with the idea and immediately set about contacting some of the world’s premier dubheads and have them get involved and contribute remix. What was to be just a 12” Vinyl release expanded into a Double 12” Vinyl Release, CD Release and Digital release. The remix material was so good and there was so much of it.
“Dubmatix presents Clash Of The Titans – The System Shakedown Remixes” features an awesome line-up of great remixers/producers: G.Corp (Groove Corporation), Zion Train, Aldubb, Dubvisionist, TVS, Mungo’s HiFi, Marcus Visionary, LionDub, Webcam Hi-Fi, Victor Rice, Vibronics, Subatomic Soundsystem and Nate Wize. Dubmatix contributed an alternate version the Dennis Alcapone track “Struggle”.The resultant release is multifaceted, ranging from roots dub to steppers, more experimental approaches such as dubstep and future dub.Dub has always been open for new styles and ideas! The voices featured on “System Shakedown” also put in an appearance: The Mighty Diamonds, Tippa Irie, Dennis Alcapone, Kulcha Ites, Jay Douglas, The Ragga Twins, Ammoye, Brother Culture and U Brown all feature with vocal parts, embellishing and enriching the futuristic sounds and vibes. Over the past months a great work has emerged and it is now poised to go straight to the hearts and feet of dubheads all over the world.
“This is a release that’s guaranteed to smash up the place! TurnTableTerrorist say so!!!” (WLUW Chicago – USA)

[new release] Elissim’s “Natty Fire EP”

Posted on 26th October 2011 by Brett Caporn (LRRecords) in dub/wise,dubstep,labels,music,release promo - Tags: , , ,

Elissim’s “Natty Fire EP”.

Elissim’s love fueled positive energy brings us another of her exceptional collaborative releases filled with good times and party vibes. Elissim truly writes from the heart, blessed to share time with some of the best artists from around the globe in her production world. The songs on this release feature all original songs written and produced by Elissim and her musical partners.

The first track off this release is NATTY DREAD. Elissim collaborates with Jamaican born Menny More (Easy Star All Stars) to create a song that expresses their solidarity and determination for a good and blessed life for all… The way of Babylon – its not how natty dreads roll… Jah guide and protect us today.
Track 2 EYE C is a song born from pure expression of rhythm and change, like a wave it draws up as another is sucked away… featuring Elissim’s own highly fx’d vox, the message “Every day that I see, the rhythm flows through me” filters through… so sweet.
The third track WROTE D RIDDIM is just a straight up fun party banger… the vocal on this track stems from a recording session Elissim had with Jamaican Superstar Jah Mason…  Playing him one of her tunes, Jah Mason, gave her the inspiration for this track… you know?!? Elissim made d riddim….
