[DUB005] Hermit Dubz Ft. Knati P – Fyah Fi Babylon

Posted on 31st July 2016 by Brett Caporn (LRRecords) in dub/wise,labels,music,release promo - Tags: , , ,

…as always; proper and good dub on dubophonic netlabel…’rascal recommended’

Cat. Nr.: [DUB005]
Artist: Hermit Dubz ft. Knati P
Title: Fyah Fi Babylon
Genre: Roots, Reggae, Dancehall, Dub
Country: Cyprus, Jamaica
Release date: 23/07/2016

Hermit Dubz: The elusive dub hermit, often unseen, toiling away in his hermit cave, meditating on low frequency vibrations. This secretive character grew up travelling the world. From an early age, the love of reggae and dub was instilled in him, and would remain his deepest love. Moving to England in the 90s as a teenager, he discovered the newly awakening electronic dance music scene and was soon DJing and creating his own sonic experiments. Over the years, the reclusive Hermit Dubz has been accumulating a horde of dub influenced sonic artefacts, and more recently building the Hermit Cave studios in Birmingham, Uk. After a long period of experimentation, isolation, meditation and contemplation, Hermit Dubz has re-emerged, ready to unleash his sonic relics.

Knati P:  Musician, painter (the artwork for this release is a painting by Knati), and entertaining performer with a unique vocal style. He studied at the Jamaica School of Art, moved to Brixton, London, in the late 1980s and regularly took part in the Notting Hill festival. In the year 2000 he was voted MC of the year. He has an impressive recording/performing record (Pineapple Tribe, Jah Observer, R.D.K, Manasseh, Equalizer, Skanga International Muzik etc.) and is a much respected lyricist, vocalist and MC.

The two artists met in Surrey, UK, at a dance where Knati was performing with his local sound system, Da Vinci. They have been friends and musical collaborators ever since, and the result is some great riddims, which remained hidden in the Hermit’s cave for quite some time. We managed to get hold of some those tracks and we present them to you today in the form of an EP. “Fyah fi Babylon” consists of 3 vocal tracks and 3 blazing dubs. We hope that the bass heavy sound of Hermit Dubz and the original Jamaican voice of Knati P will be the perfect combination for your upliftment.

>>>Always with the conscious dubbing on Bass Culture Players – ‘rascal recommended’

Sin papeles’ sees the light today, 15J, day against Detention Centers for migrants. No one is illegal.

Today solidarity is rebellion and sympathy transgression. Because they break barriers built up on legality and because they are fought by authorities with violence.’Sin papeles’ (‘without papers’ in spanish) means to defy. An invitation to acknowledge that so-called other side behind that line we are not supposed to cross. What they want us to ignore and not feel as equal. ‘Sin papeles’ is revealing a truth without discretion. ‘Sin papeles’ is, in addition, an exercise of collectivity, where Diemuba Cissé’s voice brings Musta Fall and Mamadou Dia lyrics to life, riding on Bass Culture Players riddim. Music has been recorded by diverse musicians, produced by Puppa Shan and finally brought together by Alchemy Dubs mastering. ‘Sin papeles’ is not yours, nor mine. It belongs to everyone that heads the way with the conviction we are all in the same boat.

[DPH021]// DownBeat dub – Electrorgánico //

Argentina strikes again! From the province of Mendoza comes DownBeat dub, a four member live band with a twist! Emi Bless (Drum & SetLive), Jah Sound (Bass & Synth), Coco (Guitar) and Eter Dub (Keys & Brass) are mixing organic sounds with some heavyweight dubwise business. “Electrorgánico” is the name of their first digital release on Dubophonic. Half organic and half electronic, Latin America is cultivating indeed some serious dub vibes and is establishing itself in the world dub map!

“Electrorgánico” is also the name of their style, the result of their passion and commitment to explore dub music and introduce some new musical paths. The four musicians from Argentina are passionate and dedicated to the study and live performance of dub music. Their album is an amalgamation of many elements: analog meets digital, organic meets electronic, ethnic meets dub.

Starting with Coco’s guitar healing the nation, the journey continues with some funky dub sounds leading to an inside upliftment. Only to pause for some inspiration through the musically artistic interludes, admiring the view from the high mountains of Aconcagua, the journey continues in an everlasting musical creation. You are invited to join the journey and be a part of their world.

Cat: [DPH016]
Genre: Dub/Roots/Stepper
Country: UK
Release date: 24-07-2014
CC Licenses-by-nc-nd/3.0

After the huge success of their first  release “Dub ina Midlands”  (awarded 4 stars by CCTRAX and  included in dub.com‘s Dubcast  series) and their guest appearence  on the EP of Red Star Martys “Time for Tea”, Koncrete Roots is back with more vibes.

Celebrating the first birthday of our netlabel, we are giving to everybody the free EP “Rudie Dubplates” with 5 tracks of wall-shaking basslines, irie sax and warrior style beats. This is our way to say “thank you for your massive support during this 1st year of our existence”.  Ruff and tuff!

This is the first part of a special double release. The second part will be released two days later on Saturday the 26th of July, so watch this space!

The EP includes five unreleased Koncrete Roots dubplates, which will definitely bring you to higher heights and have your room walls pounding with sub-bass and vibes. Nuff respect to the Rootsman for the irie sax on “Sax di fisherman”. Giving thanks each and every time!

*STEPPAS EXCLUSIVE*
(official release date 30/06/14)

400 Copies // no re-press

“The A side, Fire Key, features Ras Dago and is everything you’d expect from Alpha Steppa. Eastern influences, killer percussion, dread vibes and enough sub to put even the best soundsystem to the test. The B side, Shaka Satori, is an altogether different beast. It opens with an almost haunting stringed instrument, before the kick drops and prepares you for the impending undulating bass line. As Mixmag have said, Alpha Steppa’s music truly does “put the dub in dubstep”. And if you’ve not come across his music before, Alpha’s Trigram release will definitely make you sit up and take note!” FKOF
