Clan Analogue have a full schedule of releases and events lined up for 2012 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the legendary Australian electronic music and arts collective. First up, Clan Analogue are pleased to announce that a selection of albums originally released only on cassette in the mid-90s are now available in digital non-physical formats from iTunes, Juno Records, Beatport and other digital retailers.  These releases have been remastered from the original master tapes.

The cassette releases come from an era when Clan Analogue released the first recordings by acts who later established international reputations in techno and electronic music, such as B(if)tekInfusionTerra 9 and Dark Network.

Now available in digital non-physical format are:

Schizmatrix – various artists (catalogue number CAC01)

One of the rarest releases in Australian electronic music, Schizmatrix launched the Studio Series of Clan Analogue cassettes. With classic early tracks by Infusion, B(if)tekDark Network and others,  it is of immense interest to any aficionado of this musical era.

Clan Analogue Melbourne – various artists (catalogue number CA006E)

Capturing perfectly the 7am vibe at 90s Victorian forest raves such as Earthcore and Technofest, Clan Analogue Melbourne collects ambient electronic sounds and subtle grooves from artists such as MooSeo and The Spartacus Barraworn. This release launched the Melbourne branch of the Clan Analogue collective.

Music For Aliens – Holy Terra and Nanotech (catalogue number CA009)

Containing a side each by Sydney acts Holy Terra and NanotechMusic For Aliens explores sounds from techno and trance through to chilled downbeat ambience. Holy Terra later metamorphosed into the internationally-acclaimed Terra 9 while Nanotech’s Ant Banister went on to form acts such as EidolonThe FlowGalactic Gangstars and Lunar Module.

Clan Analogue plan to make more archival recordings available in 2012 and also have a brand new compilation in the works which celebrates the heritage of the collective in a unique way. Stay tuned to Clan Analogue via Facebook, Twitter or the Clan Analogue website for more details as they emerge….

The Time Is Upon Us!

December 21, 2012 will be the most focused on date by the greatest number
of people around the globe, in all of recorded History! This is a Calling
Out to everyone that we must put aside our differences, put aside all the
projections and theories about 2012, and be part of the Actualization of
World Peace. Spread the word! Let us be Victorious on Behalf of All Beings
Everywhere!
The changing of world ages is ushering in a change of paradigms. We may
put the old world age that is founded on separation and
linear-male-dominant perspective (which breeds fear, greed, and
destruction) behind us, and move into a new era of conscious harmonious
interconnectedness in which equality prevails, and the masculine and
feminine energies are in balance.

"World Peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not the absence of
violence. Peace is the manifestation of human compassion." -The Dalai Lama

We must align with Peace, as a vibration, a mental attitude, and a way of
conducting ourselves with all our relations. We must let go of the old
world?s emphasis on separation and fear, and we must open to being a
bridge to the new world based on the Oneness of our existence. Every being
that lives: people, creatures of the land, sea and air, and all of the
planetary organisms that make up our Biosphere form the Web of Life. We
are interconnected.

We intimately affect each other, and all of life everywhere, by the
choices we make and the energies that we circulate through our emotions,
our thoughts, our words, and our intentions and attitudes. Whether we can
see people across the globe or not, we can feel our interconnection, and
when we take steps to lend our hearts and our hands to the Great Healing
of our World, we contribute to this Great New Peace that is prophesied to
come after the end of this "Fourth World Age of Destruction." This Peace
is a living presence that can guide us and that we can each be instruments
and agents of. This Peace knows no distinctions of race, nationality,
class or religion. This Peace is our shared, universal Mission. WE are the
People these Prophecies from the Ancients were left for, to wake us up to
the extreme importance of how we live our lives, now, here, in these
precious times.

NEWS from Avaaz.org

Posted on 29th February 2012 by little rascal in must see must do,web - Tags: , ,

In the last 30 days, our community has grown by 2.5 million people. We were already the largest political web movement ever, and yet we’re growing faster than anyone has seen before! We’re taking more actions, winning more victories, donating more and generating thousands more media hits in one month than we used to in a year. It’s thrilling, even a little scary, especially when we see that the pace is still accelerating

Just to give a snapshot of the last few weeks –

  • 5 million of us stood up to the ACTA and SOPA internet censorship bills, helping to put SOPA on ice, and putting ACTA under threat, with the President of the European Parliament and Germany, Poland and many other countries reconsidering their positions.
  • we smuggled $1.8 million worth of medical supplies into Syria when no one else could, and raised $1.5 million more in donations, while our citizen journalists provided much of the world media’s information and images.
  • we generated thousands of news articles on 20 different campaigns.
  • our sex trafficking hotline generated information that will result in a major set of arrests this week (can’t say which country yet).
  • we raised over 4 million dollars/euros/yen online to supercharge our work, and are growing our staff team like mad to keep up with the need.
  • we ran over 40 campaigns, took over 10 million actions and told 25 million friends about campaigns we care about, on everything from deforestation in Brazil to the Murdoch scandal in the UK — and made a serious impact on many of these.

If all that wasn’t enough, we’re about to launch a couple of big projects (stay tuned) that will take our community to a whole NEW level!

It’s a thrilling privilege to serve this amazing community, and while the challenges we face are growing, the surge of spirited people rising to meet these challenges is growing even faster and stronger. We’ve come together and built something special, and it’s taking off. Let’s shoot for the stars.

With hope and excitement,

Ricken, Stephanie, Wen, Emma, Wissam, Veronique, Heather and the entire Avaaz team

PS – here’s some recent features on our community in the EconomistTimes and Guardian. And here’s a radio piece by NPR on our work in Syria, and an LA Times article on our Internet freedom campaign.

Support the Avaaz Community!
We’re entirely funded by donations and receive no money from governments or corporations. Our dedicated team ensures even the smallest contributions go a long way.

Save our last wild cockatoos from starvation

Save our last wild cockatoos from starvation | Conservation Council of Western Australia.

WA’s unique black cockatoos are suffering

Western Australia’s unique black cockatoo species are a state icon, yet these charismatic birds are now locked in a desperate fight for survival.

Each mature cockatoo must eat 100 large marri gum nuts or 1000 small jarrah nuts every day just to survive, but the combined impacts of logging, land clearing, recent bushfires and last year’s record drought mean that there is simply not enough to go around.

Many of these birds are so hungry they are being forced into metropolitan gardens in search of food.

With our cockatoo populations already on the brink of collapse, we have just heard some appalling news.

The State Government plans to target some of the last unburned high-conservation forests for logging, and the chainsaws are set to move in within weeks!

UPDATE: Logging has already begun in the Warrup Forest, 25km South East of Bridgetown. This is a critically important habitat for black cockatoos, numbats and many other rare native animals.

If we don’t act now to stop the logging of these areas, thousands of native animals will have their homes destroyed and the black cockatoos could be pushed over the brink into extinction.

One of the areas targeted for logging, Helms block near Nannup, is even home to a flock of cockatoos that were rescued and released into the area by the Department of Environment and Conservation! This area is also acting as a temporary refuge for a huge variety of species that have escaped from that district’s recent bushfires.

Forest areas like the Warrup forest near Bridgetown are not just a vital food source for the cockatoos, but are providing some of the last remaining refuges for our unique endangered mammals like thechuditchquenda, and even our WA emblem, the numbat.

If we allow these beautiful forest areas to be logged, then there is a strong chance that we will lose our unique black cockatoos from WA’s skies forever.

By writing to Minister Marmion and telling him to stop destroying key cockatoo habitats, you will be helping to save a truly unique and beautiful icon.
